Redpeak Mountains

The Redpeak Mountains dominate the southeastern corner of Teros Major, an expansive range of jagged, red-hued cliffs that stretch across the landscape. Divided into the Northern and Southern Redpeaks by the wide Nerin Pass, these mountains are known for their steep, sharp peaks and arid terrain.
The lower slopes of the mountains are home to hardy vegetation, with Sirathin and Fir trees clinging to the rocky ground. Scattered Malofan shrubs, with their gnarly, thorny branches, thrive in the drier southern areas, and Nifrin grass is common on the lower elevations, providing cover for small animals and preventing erosion.   As one climbs higher, vegetation becomes sparse, with only the most resilient species, like the Spireleaf succulent, able to survive the harsher conditions. In some of the more protected valleys, patches of Silverhorn trees can be found, their sweeping branches providing shade for small clusters of wildlife. The southern Redpeaks, overlooking the desolate Cape of Dust and the Midar Hills, are especially dry, where Thornfane provide one of the few sources of moisture in this otherwise sun-scorched landscape.   The Nerin Pass, cutting through the range, serves as a vital trade route. Along its path, travelers encounter areas where Crommis trees grow, their golden leaves standing out against the rugged backdrop. The pass is also home to Firevine, which clings to rocky outcrops, adding a touch of color with its bright orange flowers. Hidden gorges and caves within the range are said to conceal ancient secrets, some from the days of the Thalissian Empire.   Despite the harsh conditions, the Redpeaks support a few resilient communities, such as the town of Nerin, where goat herders graze their animals on the hardier grasses and shrubs. The city of Amur Lefra, broken in the War of Salvation and since occupied by Forbin's Peacekeepers, still lies in the heart of the mountains. The landscape, though challenging, offers a stark beauty, with the fiery hues of dawn and dusk lighting up the peaks in a breathtaking display.   From a distance, the Redpeak Mountains stand as a formidable and awe-inspiring sight, their jagged red peaks rising sharply against the sky, a natural barrier between the heartlands of Teros and the untamed wilderness of the southeast.
