Isle of Bones

The Isle of Bones lies off the southeastern coast of Teros Major, shrouded in mist and steeped in dread. Its barren shores are littered with the remains of countless creatures, their bones bleached and broken beneath the salt-laden winds. The isle’s name is no idle superstition: it is whispered that these are the remains of souls claimed by the island’s dark master, the Feaster, a being of unspeakable malevolence who preys on the living.   The island’s craggy terrain is a maze of twisted rocks and low, thorny shrubs that cling to life amidst the desolation. No birds circle the skies above, and no animals venture onto its forbidding shores. The surrounding waters are treacherous, patrolled by vicious sea creatures like the Lorghee and Reestlash. Even the hardy Morvix only lands here to scavenge, fleeing at the first hint of movement from the island’s interior.   Once, the Isle of Bones was home to a small settlement of outcasts and exiles, now lost to time. Its ruins lie scattered among the rocks, the crumbling foundations of stone buildings and shattered artefacts the only evidence of a civilisation that fell prey to the Feaster’s hunger. Little else remains, save for the eerie lights that flicker across the island at night and the whispers that seem to rise from the bones themselves.   Few who set foot on the Isle of Bones return, and those who do speak only in fragments, haunted by visions and voices that gnaw at the edges of sanity. Scholars and treasure hunters sometimes venture to the island, lured by rumours of ancient relics hidden among the ruins, but most are never seen again. It is said that the Feaster feeds on more than flesh, devouring the very essence of those it claims.
