Drujin Forest

Drujin Forest is a vast, untamed woodland on the western edge of Teros Major, lying at the end of the Nerin Pass. This ancient forest is dense and perilous, known for its towering trees, impenetrable underbrush, and a sense of foreboding that has long kept settlers at bay. While some brave souls venture into the eastern fringes to harvest timber, the heart of Drujin remains untouched, its darkened paths rarely seen by human eyes.   The forest is home to a mix of towering Silverhorn conifers, whose wide branches form a canopy that blocks out much of the sun, and thick-trunked Sirathin trees, which dominate the lower layers with their sturdy limbs. Mosses and vines drape from the branches, and Pirthingallam mosses thrive in the shaded areas, carpeting the ground with their thick, spongy growth. The deeper parts of Drujin Forest are tangled with dense underbrush, and the few clearings that exist are covered in thick ferns, adding to the forest's wild and dangerous atmosphere.   Drujin Forest is infamous for the dangers that lurk within. Large predators roam the depths, including Rhakkor, massive and territorial creatures that prowl through the dark, rarely seen by those who enter but whose presence is always felt. These powerful predators are apex hunters, keeping even smaller predators like wildcats and boars in check. Blackwings, predatory moths native to Drujin, also haunt the forest, their eerie presence a sign of danger to travelers who venture too deep.   Drujin Forest is also the domain of Falloru the Hunter, a legendary predator who stalks the shadowy depths. Said to hunt for sport rather than survival, Falloru’s presence is felt in every silent pause and the uneasy stirring of the trees. Those who venture too deep into the forest speak of being watched, tracked by unseen eyes. His name is whispered in fear, and the sudden quieting of birds or the absence of insect buzz can herald his approach. To encounter Falloru is to face a creature of relentless skill and malevolence, and even the most formidable predators in the forest yield to his dominance.   Even the wildlife that is not outright dangerous adds to the sense of unease in the forest. The constant buzzing of insects and the distant cries of unseen creatures serve as a reminder of the forest's impenetrable wildness. Reports of other, more mysterious creatures—some of them potentially even more dangerous than the Rhakkor—persist among the brave few who dare to gather wood near the forest’s edge.   While timber is in high demand in Teros, few dare to venture far into Drujin Forest. The people of the Nerin Pass have established small logging operations on the fringes, but even they do not encroach far beyond the safety of their settlements. The forest is dense, the predators are many, and the risks are too high for widespread exploitation. Stories of entire logging parties disappearing into the woods, never to return, are common, and the Drujin Forest is spoken of in hushed tones across the land.
