Natarrine Sands

The Natarrine Sands stretch across the western coast of Teros Major, forming a vast, arid expanse of dunes and rocky outcrops. The main trade route through the desert runs from the port town of Natarr on the Sea of Fair Winds, through the shifting sands, and eventually emerges in the fertile lands of eastern Teros. This road, vital for trade and travel, passes through the ruins of Hennorash, and past Castle Elchorr before reaching the eastern edge of the desert.
The port town of Natarr serves as the starting point for the desert road. Surrounded by high protective walls, the town is a hub for trade across the Sea of Fair Winds, with merchants and travelers passing through the great eastern gate and heading into the desert. The town is known for its architecture, designed to combat the harsh desert climate, with stone buildings, domed roofs, and windcatcher towers. From Natarr, the road ventures east into the heart of the desert.   As the road continues eastward, it winds through the Natarrine Sands, passing through the ruins of Hennorash. Once a thriving town, Hennorash now lies half-buried under the ever-shifting sands. Its crumbling stone buildings and broken walls are all that remain of the once-bustling settlement, now haunted by desert winds and occasional scavengers. Traders and travelers often pause here, wary of both the desert and the ruins' eerie reputation.   Beyond Hennorash, the road leads further east to the Castle Elchorr, a fortified stronghold perched above the desert. The castle, although formally under control of the Peacekeepers, is in reality controlled by a local warlord who charges a toll for safe passage through his territory. Castle Elchorr itself is an imposing stone structure, standing out starkly against the barren desert landscape. Despite its isolation, the warlord’s hold on the region ensures that travelers pay for his protection, as bandits and desert creatures pose constant threats.   As the road moves past Castle Elchorr, it crosses the final stretch of the Natarrine Sands. The desert gradually gives way to more fertile lands as the road leads toward Stolmon Ford, a small but strategic town on the River Stolmon. Here, travelers find respite after the harsh desert journey, before continuing onward to the town of Benann and beyond.   This route through the Natarrine Sands, though treacherous, remains a key trade artery between the coastal port of Natarr and the more settled regions to the east. Despite the dangers posed by both the desert and the inhabitants of Castle Elchorr, merchants continue to brave the journey, lured by the promise of profit and the safety of the trade route beyond the sands.
