Realms of Helerin

The Helerin Archipelago is home to a number of geopolitical states.

Key nations

The major states within the islands are as follows:

Remon

A proud and mighty nation, Remon is ruled by its king Dastan III from his throne in the capital city of Harsann. The realm covers much of the island of Remon, as well as the island city of Jaltra.   Remon maintains an uneasy relationship with the Norran of the mountains, and has faced many threats from the wild peoples of the Silverwood and the Stonelands in the northwest.

Forbin

Forbin is the most powerful state in the Helerin Archipelago, and controls the islands of Great Forbin and Daros.   For many years, Forbin was a fractured kingdom without a monarch, each region ruled independently by its Lord Guardian. Now it stands reunited and more mighty than ever.   The Golden King, Trybon Fane rules the realm from the city of Holdras. Other major cities are the ports of Hapros, Gilrimmon, Olbrint, and Mintrass.

Teros

Teros covers the islands of Teros Major and Teros Minor, and was once a powerful kingdom.   Defeated in war twenty years ago, much of the realm remains occupied by the armies of Forbin. It's old capital of Amur Lefra is partly ruined, and the city of Olnath has become its effective hub of power.   To the north, the city of Persothan remains largely independent, while great swathes of the realm are wild and lawless places dominated by local warlords and brigands.

League of Mar Miskun

The towns and cities of the island of Mar Miskun have maintained their alliance for many years.   The League has no "capital" city; the leaders of Ashanok, Penstrarn, and Kunkana compete with each other, but will act in concord against outside interests.

Mar Mabon Townships

Unlike the League of Mar Miskun, the towns that cling to the northern shores of Mar Mabon maintain a looser and more fragile relationship. Orbont, Argonsa, and the smaller townships have squabbled and feuded for centuries. Politics here is dominated by mercantile interests and old tribal loyalties.

Free Peoples of the Seynan Islands

Fiercely independent, the sea-faring inhabitants of the Seynan Islands maintain a democratic form of government, electing council representatives within each island township. These councils send representatives to the wider Island Council. While each island acts with considerable autonomy, the islands will act in concert to defend against military or trade threats from larger neighbours.   While the state has no "capital city", the largest and most important towns are Seyn Ferra, Seyn Truna, and Seynin Fant.

Other realms

Some of the native peoples of the islands maintain smaller states within or alongside the larger realms described above.

The Dharo of Nythralla

The Nythran Forest once covered much of the interior of Great Forbin, but is now reduced to a fraction of its original size. The Dharo continue to live under its branches, and the great city of Nythralla still stands at the heart of the forest.

The Vistrar of Gastranrar

Rarely seen by the other peoples of Helerin, the winged Vistrar dwell on the island city of Gastranrar within the Sea of Zarroth.

The Norran of Forbin

Forbin's Norran population dweel within two cities in the Forn Crags: Forabar and Athoskol. They maintain friendlier relations with Forbin's other inhabitants than their cousins in Remon.

The Norran of Remon

For many years, the Norran of Remon forbade outsiders to settle on the island. Relations with "outsiders" remain cool at best, and the Norran maintain their own ways under the mountains of the Rejarn Vaults and the Grimcrags.
