The islands are inhabited by a number of different speaking peoples. The native peoples of the archipelago include the forest-dwelling Dharo, subterranean Norran, sea-faring Fan-Shene, the winged Vistrar, and the froglike Bulgiss. At the start of the current Age, refugees fleeing catastrophy arrived in the islands. Humans make up the largest single group, but they were accompanied by Boma, Drile, Makkun, Keeva, Kazlaa, and Lorin. The Newcomers, as they are called, live in integrated communities across Helerin's towns and cities., while (with the exception of the Bulgiss) the native peoples remain largely separate within their own domains.Helerin's realms
Helerin is home to a number of states:- Realm of Forbin
- Kingdom of Remon
- Teros
- The Free Peoples of the Seynan Islands
- The League of Mar Miskun
- The Mar Mabon Townships
These vary in their size, power, and cohesiveness. Forbin and Remon are both monarchies, Teros is largely an occupied territory, and the other states are much looser confederations.
A number of smaller states exist within these larger realms, including the Dharo of Nythralla, the Vistrar of Gastranrar, and Norran states in the mountains of Remon and Forbin.
