Fan-Shene

The nomadic Fan-Shene are a species of humanoids in the Helerin Archipelago. They are one of the native peoples of the islands.
A proud and independent people, the tribes of the Fan-Shene are deeply connected to the rhythms of the sea. They value their autonomy above all else, and while they are aware of the changes happening in the world around them, they choose to remain apart, preserving their unique way of life.

Physical appearance

Fan-Shene are similar to Humans in appearance, although they are generally a little shorter, their skin is fairer, and their hair is always white. Fan-Shene tribes each have their own complex tattoo patterns.

Lifespan and growth

Fan-Shene typically live to around the age of 70, and reach adulthood at approximately 18 years of age.

Fan-Shene are great swimmers, learning the skill at an early age.
A small proportion of Fan-Shene are able to use magic.

Populations

The Fan-Shene are among the least numerous of all the species inhabiting the islands, making up less than 1% of the total population.
The Fan-Shene are a nomadic people, living a life tied to the sea and the coasts of the Helerin Archipelago. Unlike the other native peoples, the Fan-Shene have largely avoided direct conflict with the newcomers by maintaining their nomadic lifestyle. They sail the coasts in their sleek vessels, making temporary camps at river mouths, secluded coves, and other favored spots where fresh water is plentiful.
The arrival of the newcomers did not significantly alter the Fan-Shene way of life. Their mobility and knowledge of the seas allowed them to continue their traditions with little interference. They tend to avoid settled areas, preferring the solitude and freedom of the open water. However, they are not entirely isolated; they occasionally trade with coastal settlements, offering goods and services in exchange for supplies.
