Makkun

The Makkun (also known as the 'Demonkin') are a humanoid species inhabiting the Helerin Archipelago. They are counted among the Newcomers who arrived in the islands two millennia ago.

Physical appearance

Makkun are large, frequently standing over seven feet tall, with red, amber, or bronze skin that is frequently marked with contrasting stripes.
Their legs are goatlike, with hooves instead of feet, and curving horns sprout from the crowns of their heads. Their eyes are typically golden. Both males and females are typically muscular with hulking physiques.
Males frequently have dark beards, and both males and females may dark hair on their heads.

Lifespan and growth

Makkun generally live for around 100 years, although some may live well beyond that. Makkun reach adulthood at around the age of 25.

Innate attributes and abilities

Makkun are very strong, and make fierce warriors.
A small proportion of Makkun are able to use magic.

Populations

Makkun make up approximately 6% of the total population of the islands, but are most often found in Teros. They live among the general population in Helerin's realms, with no settlements of their own.
The Dericarr tribe of Mar Mabon consists solely of Makkun. Its folk are renowned as the most hardy of all the nomadic peoples of Mar Mabon. They live in the eastern Gathoran Sands and along the shores of the Mabon Channel.
