The Newcomers
After the death of Dassantarra and the catastrophic events that followed, many peoples fled their homelands and eventually found refuge in the islands of the Helerin Archipelago.
Thriving in these new lands, these peoples eventually came to dominate the islands, often supplanting the native inhabitants.
Humans now make up the largest single population among all the species, accounting for nearly half of all the archipelago's inhabitants.
Boma are the second most numerous of all the species inhabiting the islands, making up approximately 12% of the total population. They are green or brown skinned, and are slightly shorter than most humans. They are very large in girth, and are typically bald.
Boma are renowned for their talents with metalwork and other handicrafts.
The Kazlaa are the third most numerous of all the species inhabiting the islands. Tall, hairy, and well-muscled, they have large fangs and clawed feet.
Keeva are the smallest of all the peoples inhabiting the islands of Helerin. They stand approximately four feet high and are slightly built, quick-witted, and fleet of foot.
Slightly shorter than Humans, the Lorin have white skin, and purple hair. They are few in number and are widely scattered across the islands. Lorin are known as great singers and musicians.
The Makkun (also known as the 'Demonkin') are a humanoid species inhabiting the Helerin Archipelago. They are tall, frequently standing over seven feet tall, with red, amber, or bronze skin. Their legs are goatlike, with hooves instead of feet, and curving horns sprout from the crowns of their heads.
Makkun make up approximately 6% of the total population of the islands, but are most often found in the cities of Mar Mabon Townships and Teros.
The Drile are larger than Humans (often standing at seven feet tall), and instead of legs they have long snake-like tails. Their bodies are covered in scales from the waist down. All Drile are completely hairless, and many have a crown of small horns sprouting from their heads. The Drile are known for their lighting-fast reactions and speed of movement.
Drile love dry, hot environments, and are most commonly encountered in Teros, particularly in the town of Natarr.
Standing slightly taller than most humans, Shanda are insectoid in appearance, with large, multifaceted eyes, and sharp mandibles.
Shanda are often highly intelligent, and invariably calm in any situation.
