Shanda

The Shanda are a species of humanoids dwelling in the Helerin Archipelago. They are counted among the Newcomers who arrived in the islands two millennia ago.

Physical appearance

Standing slightly taller than most humans, they are insectoid in appearance, with large, multifaceted eyes, and sharp mandibles.
Some Shanda have wings, although their ability to fly is mostly limited to hovering or skiming along the ground.

Lifespan and growth

Shanda typically live for around 50 years, although some have been known to reach the age of 70 or beyond. Shanda reach adulthood around the age of 16.

Innate attributes and abilities

Shanda are often highly intelligent, and invariably calm in any situation.

Populations

Shanda live in the towns and cities of the realms of Helerin, with no settlements of their own. They comprise only a small proportion of the total population. The town of Tabann is unusual in being home to a large number of Shanda.
