Bulgiss

The Bulgiss are a species of frog-like humanoids, dwelling in the swamps of the Festermere on Teros Major. They are one of the native peoples of the islands.

Physical appearance

Bulgiss are humanoid, with frog-like faces and limbs. They stand approximately 5 feet tall, with females generally slightly shorter than males. Skin is generally green, although shades and tones can vary widely.

Lifespan and growth

Bulgiss generally live for approximately 120 years, with some surviving much longer. Bulgiss reach adulthood at around the age of 30.

Innate attributes and abilities

Bulgiss are naturally excellent swimmers, and can remain underwater for long periods.
A small proportion of Bulgiss are able to use magic.

Populations

Historically, the Bulgiss lived in tribal communities scattered throughout the Festermere. Following their subjugation of the Bulgiss by the forces of Tekkaron, many have moved to live amongst Human and other species in Persothan and beyond. Many old villages now lie abandoned. While many Bulgiss retain their tribal traditions and loyalties as best they can, others have largely abandoned the old ways and adopted new modes of dress and behaviour. The tribes of the Bulgiss are represented on the Ruling Triumvirate of Persothan.
Their numbers have slowly dwindled over the years, and many were killed in the defence of Persothan during the War of Salvation. Bulgiss make up approximately 1% of the total population of the Helerin Archipelago.
