Sildar Hallwinter

Sildar Hallwinter

Sildar Hallwinter is a human male paladin and an agent of the Lords' Alliance.

Rescued at Cragmaw Hideout

On Day 3 of the campaign (16 Tarsakh), Conor McGregor, Herb Stoner and Jory Undammuth were attacked by goblins on the Triboar Trail. Conor, Herb and Jory had been hired by Gundren Rockseeker to bring his supplies to Phandalin, and they found clues that led them to believe that the goblins had previously ambushed Gundren and Sildar Hallwinter, the Lords' Alliance agent escorting Gundren.

After Jory's brother Bory Undammuth found the group and joined them, the group of four followed the goblins' tracks to the Cragmaw Hideout near the edge of the Neverwinter Wood. The group defeated the Cragmaw Tribe goblins, killing their bugbear leader Klarg and rescuing Sildar. After clearing out Cragmaw Hideout, Jory and Bory decided to travel north toward Mount Hotenow, and Conor and Herb traveled to Phandalin with Sildar.

Investigating the Redbrands

On Day 4 (17 Tarsakh), Sildar stayed with Conor and Herb in Phandalin as they learned about the Redbrand Ruffians, eventually confronting a group of Redbrands including Seth Redbrand at the Sleeping Giant. During that confrontation, Gwenlinn and Rayphlárd joined a fight in which several of the Redbrands, including Seth, died.

On Day 5 (18 Tarsakh), Sildar joined Conor, Herb, Gwenlinn and Rayphlard as they attacked the Redbrand Hideout in the early morning. During that encounter, Sildar discovered that Iarno Albrek, a former Lords' Alliance agent, was now leading the Redbrand Ruffians. Iarno, now going by the name "Glasstaff," escaped the fight, but the group discovered a letter revealing that Iarno was working for the Black Spider (Iarno died the following morning while attempting to ambush Conor, Herb and Rayphlard outside Phandalin).

Later that day, Sildar also discovered the truth about Phandalin townmaster Harbin Wester and his relationship with Alex Redbrand and the Redbrands. Sildar arrested Harbin for rigging the townmaster election in 1490, and he appointed Toblen Stonehill acting townmaster. Sildar then began escorting Harbin back to Neverwinter that evening to stand trial before the Lords' Alliance.

A New Phandalin

On Day 10 (23 Tarsakh), Collateral Damage (Conor, Herb, Rayphlard and their new ally Shinzon Greenshadow) returned to Phandalin and visited the Townmaster's Hall. Sildar was also back in town, and he was meeting with Toblen Stonehill and Lords' Alliance agents Charles Truthgazer and Thek Bigli to discuss the future of Phandalin and its new status as a part of the Lords' Alliance.

Sildar told the group what he had learned about the Cragmaw Tribe since they last spoke, including what he knew about their leader King Grol and Cragmaw Castle. Sildar also asked the group to look for the items he lost when the Cragmaws captured him and took him to their hideout.

On Day 11 (24 Tarsakh), Collateral Damage arrived at Cragmaw Castle and defeated the tribe. They found the items Sildar described, and they kept them for themselves.

Greengrass Festival

On Day 17 (30 Tarsakh), Collateral Damage returned to Phandalin after defeating Nezznar (AKA the Black Spider) in Wave Echo Cave the previous day. They had rescued Nundro Rockseeker, and before entering the town Nundro agreed to watch over the items that belonged to Sildar at the Rockseeker Camp north of town.

Later that evening, Herb Stoner went to the Rockseeker Camp to check on Nundro, but Nundro wasn't there. Herb did see Sildar's items at the camp, but when he went downstairs into a cellar he saw multiple undead creatures; Herb escaped back to the rest of the group.

On Day 18 (Greengrass), at the Greengrass Festival, Sildar hosted an arm wrestling challenge at one of the tables. He was defeated by both Tubby (a new member of Collateral Damage) and Rayphlárd during the festival. During the conclusion of the event, Sildar joined the forces defending Phandalin from the dragon and then the Many Arrows Tribe orcs. After the attacks, Sildar then joined Thek Bigli to check on the townsfolk.

Later that day, Collateral Damage - along with Daran and Garaele Edermath - investigated the Rockseeker Camp cellar, and they battled undead monsters and encountered Argus Skeel. Argus escaped, and the group then found Sildar's items moved down into the cellar.

On Day 19 (1 Mirtul), Sildar found Collateral Damage in the early morning at Gwenlinn's House, and Rayphlard answered the door. Sildar asked for information about Wave Echo Cave because Lord Frederich Wulfrun assigned him to lead a group of Phandalin citizens to evacuate there to stay safe against the dragon; Rayphlard described the creatures they faced there. He also asked if they knew anything about Gundren's family because he wanted to pay his respects; the group denied knowing anything. Finally, Sildar asked about his lost items at Cragmaw Castle; Rayphlard told him that they last saw them at the Rockseeker Camp, so Sildar excitedly headed in that direction.
