Magnapolis
History
The peninsula is an ancestral home of the gnomes, and a trio of gnomish gods have been worshipped there since the Gilded Age: Kreusstross of the rock gnomes, Baeragam of the forest gnomes and Gogoljan of the deep gnomes. Only the first was inducted into the pantheon of the Gods of Time and Order, while the other two were mostly forgotten. During the Ashen Age, a powerful forest gnome wizard Maeghaldyn Nach founded a prosperous magocracy she named after herself as Maeg Nach on the peninsula. When the Founder Queen finally died, her greatgrandson Yooru ascended the throne at the age of 13, but after just a year of reigning, the Child King was assassinated by his jealous uncle Hohoru. The Usurper King's granddaughter Siovan followed him to the throne, and became much beloved by the people of the kingdom due to her philantropy. Siovan's son Curu founded a bardic college that still exists in the City of Magnapolis today. He recorded his voice into the legendary singing sword Taliesin, which was buried with him. Curu's successor and oldest daughter Mirvan became interested in the lands beyond the peninsula, and while she was away on her expeditions, her younger brother Lorridan ruled in her stead. Mirvan never returned from her final journey, and after Lorridan's death, her granddaughter Morrighan took the throne. A horrible pestilence struck the land during her reign, killing more than half of the population and earning her the title of the Plague Queen. Morrighan's son Trustan survived the plague but was left physically ravaged by it. The Weak King could not maintain his rule when his daughter, Princess Trussalotte claimed herself a chosen of the god Kreusstross, and together with the other seven Prophets established the faith of the Gods of Time and Order, and annexed the old magocracy into the state of Magnapolis. Despite the mages losing power over the lands, the work research they had done for it remained in the myriad academies in the state, and many famous artificers and scholars rose to fame from Magnapolis. The most notable of them was the deep gnome Bombasticus Marvellan, who founded the Marvellan Academy of Artificers and created the first autognomes. His daughter Hibiscus continues his work as the headmistress of the academy, while his more recluse son Gnosticus built the monumental Clockwork Tower and invented the use of wind power to provide cleaner energy than by using coal. The founders of the Gadgetory also studied under Bombasticus.
