Wickerwork Downs
The western edge of the state of Magnapolis is dominated by Grandwood, an ancient forest now belonging to the state of Reignstone, still said to be hiding remnants of the fey culture. At the edge of that forest lies the secluded village of Wickerwork Downs, which has a reputation of producing talented woodworkers and furnituremakers.
Before the Steaming Age, the villagers were said to worship the Sacred Willow growing at the edge of the settlement. They would use its branches to build a Wickerman in the village square and burn it as a sacrifice in a time of need. Lately there has been rumors that the old traditions would have been revived.
The head of the village is a priest of Tritiana Mater, the goddess of agriculture, who is the only god with a temple there. The last priest to lead the village was Father Rudyard Brightwen, but he died recently. After his death, a nun called Sister Millicent Sedgwick, took over with the help of Sheriff Colbin Halfast.
There is one tavern, the Red Nightcap Inn, which mostly caters to locals since few people ever travel to the village. The owner, a grumpy gnome called Trigg Barclay, is not a hospitable host in any case. He serves mushrooms for dinner every night, being too stubborn to prepare anything else.
The village general store is also a bakery, known as Granny's Cottage, which is owned by the elderly gnome Floreen Agaric, but run by her granddaughter, Rosalind. The shop is famous for its delicious muffins.
