The Third Tower- Upper-Class Tavern

Straddling an inlet from the sea, The Third Tower Tavern is a huge, lavish establishment that hovers above the water. As such, it is one of the few buildings in the polis, maybe even in Theros, that is constructed with wood. It is the third tallest building in the polis and can be seen from almost anywhere. There are dozens of rooms for people to stay in and it hosts some of the most lavish parties for the people. The tavern is well-known by everyone in Meletis, but steep drink prices and a dress code keep a lot of people out. Wealthy upper-crust members of society stay there when visiting from other polies and several higher members of Meletian society dine and drink there on a regular basis.   The tavern offers the only Turkish-style baths and companion services in the polis and the madame and girls who work and live in the northern wing are of the highest caliber. Within the uppermost section of the Tavern is a small temple or chapel to Ephara and the largest rooms in the building lay at the top. What looks like to outsiders and visitors as a block of connected buildings and homes is the entire Tavern itself. There are two grand dance halls within the structure, and on the top level is an open-air cafe and terrace that overlooks the inlet.   At the bottom and front, there is a small boat rental when you can pay to be toured around the inlet for an hour while you take in the most delicious wine. Inside the spindle tower to the north, there is a private sanctum-like area that you can rent out for entire months if you so choose, but it'll cost you. Also on the bottom floor are the great kitchens and regular dining halls where you can enjoy the most incredible meals. The Tavern has a special contract with the best of Meletian hunters and purveyors of spices, wines, and delicacies from far off lands. There is a private reading area in the spindle tower to the east and on that side of the structure, you'll find the elevated Turkish-style baths and spa facilities.   All around the building are the homes and large manses of the most wealthy members of Meletian society and from the uppermost windows, you can see the Observatory and Academy.

The Madame

Alterations

Once a grand estate, the "house" has been converted into this lavish establishment for the wealthiest citizens.

Architecture

The walls still carry some of the solid white stone construction near the base and the arch that supports the tavern is also constructed with stone.

History

There is a rumor that there are still some unexplored rooms in the Third Tower, which used to belong to a councilmember before they fell out of favor nearly a hundred years ago. These hidden chambers and wings are said to be haunted by that councilmember who is furious that his house is being used in such a manner.

Tourism

Extremely popular with the richest of the rich, it's said that, "What Transpires in the Third Tower Remains Tucked Tight Under Thatch and Stone."
