Glossion

Glossion is a small coastal town that would be completely unremarkable, except that it’s accumulated a truly impressive library. The bulk of the town’s economy revolves around maintaining the library and meeting the needs of travelers who come to visit it.

Demographics

Mostly human, but there are several tritons and those who've traveled from across Theros to see the grand library who have ended up staying in the peaceful town.

Government

They are overseen by a mayor who works directly with the Twelve. The mayor ensures that the Twelve help them with threats and the like and in return, the town pays taxes to Meletis, similar to the other settlements or holdings of Meletis. There is also a small town council that helps to run the library and deal with tourists.

Defences

Meletis sends in a platoon of guards to help protect the city and there is a small outpost outside the town. There is a small wall that guards the city as well as a watchtower that sits near the water's edge.

Industry & Trade

The library brings in several people and the coastal resources are often traded with Meletis. The influx of money and valuables from the Library's tourism helps the city to offer better roads and homes to the people living there. Many of the inhabitants work in the Library while others run helpful establishments for those that visit it, such as taverns, lodging, market stalls, clothing and weapon repair, supply stands, and boat rentals.

Infrastructure

the library is a beacon for scholarly travelers, they also have access to the coast with boats and water workings that keep the town running and hydrated.

Assets

A compendium of knowledge in the Library, access to the fishing at the coast as well as the stone and resources found in the water.

History

When a philosopher of Meletis retired to the town years and years ago and founded the Library it became an incredible sight for all in the area to see and began drawing others soon after. The Library has since been maintained as the greatest income-generating site in the town.

Tourism

Many learned individuals visit the Library to see all the knowledge that has been acquired over the years, beat only by the Pyrgnos itself. The public is allowed to visit and spend the day at the Library for only a single gold and there are several businesses surrounding it that can provide visitors with food, room, and drink. The Library is run by Zinovia a satyr of Skola Vale who relocated to the town to help with the Library and learn everything she can from it. It appears that her obsession with experience life seated itself in her desire to know all she can. She is a sweet old thing and very friendly to all who come to visit the Library. However, she can't stand when those harm the scrolls or treat knowledge with disrespect and will kick out any who do so.   The council works to ensure that Zinovia can go about her day helping those in the Library itself, while they ensure that the businesses nearby have what they need, including protection, to deal with all the visitors. The council is just a group of locals who took it upon themselves to help. The mayor Platon Boosaliades oversees the council and the needs of the town.

Architecture

The town uses the white stone of the coastal region and thatch roofs.

Geography

Along the coast of the Siren Sea, the area is similar to much of Meletis and the surrounding areas and has a high water table with lush greenery in and around it.

Natural Resources

Fish and resources from the sea, vegetation and wildlife that pass nearby the town from both sea and forest.
