Western Reach

Overview

The Western Reach is the Western Most part of the Five Reaches. It is also the most vibrant with plant life of all the reaches, and despite being the 'Little Finger' of Hephaestus, it is the largest of the five reaches as well.

Location

The Western Reach is the North-Western section of the Atlantis Island Continent and reaches out into the Sea of Thunder from the North-Western Corner of the Atlantia Planetia Plains.

Distances

The peninsula is 973 miles / 1567 kilometers long.

Geography

The Western Reach is a peninsula with four main Environmental Zones. The first is a micro-climate zone formed by a ring of mountains near to the entrance to Atlantia Planetia. This Zone is known as the Sun Crater - being a reference to the Cup of Helios that had been given to Hercules to make his journey to Geryon's Herd of Cattle. This area is unusually hot, and humid, making the area literally a pocket jungle near to the Ziggurat of Geryon - a Mausoleum established for the Arch-Devil.

Beyond the Ring of Mountains, the peninsula gives way to a temperate zone of Deciduous and Evergreen forests that stretch along the length of the Reach - focused mainly on the Western and Central spine of the Peninsula.

The mountains on the Peninsula include two active Volcanoes. These are positioned near to the Southern end of the Peninsula and nearer to the middle of the peninsula, between the two of them, they have desolated the western coastline, creating the Third type of environment - that of revitalising forest on a volcanic soil.

Key Oracular mountains are also present on the Peninsula - including those sacred to Artemis, and to Hercules.

The far end of the Peninsula has untouched semi-tropical zones of palm trees that establish the last of the Environmental Zones.
