Darkholme Ruins

Overview

Darkholme has several names. It was once referred to as Poseidion in Ancient Times, and often as Central Poseidion among followers today. The entire town is now a ruin at the tip of the Centre Reach. It is a small ruin of stones and barely recognisable outlines of structures. Long since wiped out - the area is still said to be sacred to Poseidon. It is rumored that Undead who were once it's mortal population roam the area at night.

Only in Spring does it turn green - said to be as a result of Persephone's return - all other times it is a yellowed dead zone of ruins and ocean ferocity.

True Background

The Poseidion ruins are home to the Necromancy of Poseidon - a Grotto of Power and a direct link to the Underworld.
Surrounding Darkholme is the Field of Bones - a vast boneyard of unanimated bones and corpses.

The remains of the Human township sits abandoned to the elements.

Demographics

A single oracle remains in place, she can teach two forms of divination to those who are willing to learn. Necromancy - the divination from the dead, and Oneiromancy - the divination of dreams.

She also teaches the language of Hades, Hadean.

Defences

Poseidon himself intervenes against any who would violate this area - the last time it was done (in 464) he leveled the entire peninsula north of Ampheres City. None dare to strike in the area - even mindless undead do not dare enter the grotto entrance way. It is said Apollo himself is also ready to avenge any slight against the sanctity of the area.

Infrastructure

A single functional structure remains underground. It is a sanctuary to Poseidon himself, and is linked directly to the Underworld.

Assets

The Grotto is fully stocked with food and water and a vault of offerings that are keyed to the Returned who have set up for their return. The magic mouths in the area will automatically trigger when a Returned who has a locker in the vault returns through the gate. This will allow them to access key clues and information about themselves to allow them to reintegrate with their dead bodies from the physical realm if needed.
