Atlantean Royal Family
Overview
The Atlantean Royal Family is directly descended from the God Poseidon, and a Mortal called Kleito. (Plato Critias 113d) Their offspring always appeared as twins, and a total of five pairs of twins were born to the divine couple. in the Atlantean system the elder twin is a king, the younger is designated a prince, but in judgments they are all equal, except for High King Atlas who maintains a veto over all.
The Ten Kings - as they are known - meet once every fifth and sixth year. A Fifth year meeting normally covers items of importance to the Five Pairs of Twin Kings, these are most often personal issues and family matters. The Sixth year meeting covers matters of state - and was chosen as the number 6 is the first Perfect Pythagorean Number in the belief that the decisions made in a '6th year' would similarly be perfect.

Ampheres is a highly skilled wizard who rules (nominally) the Center Reach. But he has not been seen in many decades. The City of Ampheres on the Reach is also called the Glowing City - it has electrical power in the form of it's street lights and defenses. Ampheres is said to be an Electromage, a Wizard who specialises in Electrical and Lightning based magic.

Prince Euaimon long gave up his portion of Atlantis to pursue a career as a Ranger-lord seeking to explore every part of the Atlantis Continent Island. All that remains of his part of the Kingdoms is the City-State of Euaimon, which is named after him.

Mneseos was the first Dwarf and is said by the Royal Family to be part of an appeasement attempt by Poseidon towards Hephaestus concerning the creation of Atlantis. It is said that Poseidon also awakened in him a drive to master liquid rock (lava) and Molten Metal. Hephaestus is said to have been sufficiently mollified to not destroy Atlantis as a result of this sacrifice of two sons to his cause.

Autocthon was said to be just like his brother, and so coordinated with him that he transformed into a Dwarf too. It is said that he later became a Monk who went on to master a Monkey Style of fighting and wielded a Wishing Staff. He is only seen by his brothers during the five year meetings - and each time it is said he has not aged a day.

Mestor is a sage-prince and the leader of the largest secret service in the continent with spies and operatives throughout the world - he is considered by some to be a great Sage, by others to be a form of Spy or Rogue, exactly what is not clear, which is how he prefers it. His Principality is sometimes called the Principality of the Lost - because this is where people go to intentionally disappear.
