Kyria Lake

Geography

Kyria Lake is a freshwater lake fed by a unique hanging waterfall that projects out from the Mountains above. The Lake is in a constant state of being refiled and offers pristine conditions for fishing and boating, and the landing of Obsidian Scaled Shadowfish.

Ecosystem

The dominant threat in the area are the Lake Devils. This is a freshwater species of Sahuagan that have dwelt in the lake for aeons, and were said to have been created by Neptune himself from the Elves who once inhabited the mountains above the lake in a previous age.

Localized Phenomena

The lake is filled with a variety of freshwater fish - mainly trout, among which is the unique Obsidian Scaled Shadowfish that are present only in this lake. The Obsidian Scaled Shadowfisht are a species of tough fish that have near invulnerable hides of jet black scales. The hardness is said to rival metal and is highly prized as a component in the famed Black Arrows of the Atlantean Ranger Corp. A single pristine scale is worth 1gp, with a single fish having between 10 to 20 of them (D10+10) of sufficient quality for use by the Fletchers.

History

No one camps near the area and lives to tell about it. Caravans speed past the area - often camping north of the pass for a night and then speeding through during the day when the Lake Devils are at rest in their Lake bed dungeon.
Several massacres have taken place in the area and it is considered cursed or haunted by many of the merchants who have to venture past these waters.
