Old Reivanta {Golryon Wastes}

"Though you tear down our monuments and ruin us, we yet become the victors. Even in death, we hold the golden scepter. None will be as great as us. None will rival Reivanta. Entombed, we are eternal."

--Statesman Antigonus Al-seht the Tyrant, in the , in 1430 BBE (-1430).

  Mankind was created at the Peak of Evandyr, according to the Sacrificial Covenant in the Guardian Faith, but civilization did not begin there. Civilization in the eyes of modern scholars, is marked as beginning with Reivanta. Reivanta is a harsh desert south of the Bay of Evandyr, with a great river running from peak to the Bay, known now as the Cursed Channel. This channel was the lifeblood of the Reivantan Democracy, and it was all due to faith.   The Guardian Faith did not begin in Reivanta. Reivanta began because of the Guardian Faith. In a time where the Jeriec Empire's belief of might making demonic right ruled all of Evandyr, the humans were weak beings indeed. It was in this state of servitude that the Prophet Mordecai of the Font discovered the Guardians, entering a cave in the Crags of Kolryut where he saw all sixteen Guardians protecting Sartova from the terrors of the Themes. It was through this faith that Reivanta could turn pearls into gallons of water, and through that, became the first people to travel across the desert freely. They ruled for a millennia and a half through these powers.   Reivanta, over this time, had beautiful heights and a golden age... before it become an unstable democracy who succumbed to the tyranny of the majority. This became it's downfall, as that subjugation spawned hatred of Reivanta towards the end of it's rule. The tribes of the desert and the Bronze Sea that were exiled from Reivanta, returned with a vengeance, pillaging their temples, and ravaging their city.   Reivanta, however, would not be claimed by another rule. Three Fiendwyrms erupted from the earth and annihilated all those living in Reivanta's ruins. The cause of this is a matter of debate in the archaeological world, and is surmised to be the effect of a great curse enacted by the falling tyrannical rulers of the democracy, a shadow of it's former glory. A curse that said that none would ever claim the treasures of Reivanta, and no one would ever rival it's glory. No one would ever be greater than Old Reivanta.   It was revealed in 854 AB, to Cedric Blackwood, as he discovered the original Guardian Faith in the City of the Dead, that the two sects of humanity, the two groups of worshipers of the Guardians, both came from Reivanta. They were one people, millennia ago. Those that went north to Gol were the survivors of Reivanta, and those that sacked Reivanta after being exiled from it lived on in the Bronze Sea, and this Sacking altered their philosophies and faith completely. This was the cause of the fierce and heated disagreements between the two sects.

Bitter is the knife that cuts twice.
