Evandyr

Evandyr, the continent of the God-King Avernus in ancient history, now the seat of modern civilization. From advanced cities of magocrats and arcanoscience, to the bleak wastes home to the cradle of civilization. From fuedal shogunates to grim fairytales, and older histories still. Evandyr was a weapon of a god before it was home to mortals, and the dangers that prowl its more wild spaces are tempered only by bastions of civilization, all of which are new to the land... rising after the .   After the imprisonment of Avernus within the world as his tomb, and the fall of the Titans, the Children of Avernus and the Avernal Demons rose to prominence. They formed the Avernal Regimes, delving into occult secrets in the god's blood, and the First Jeriec Empire, claiming a might possible only to those to revere Avernus. Both would fall, in the endless encroachment of history, but the leftover ruins and previously sentient beasts lie throughout the dark nights of Evandyr... an omni-present reminder that if competition is the way of the bloody jungle, cooperation is the way of civilization.
Evandyr can be divided along tectonic lines, the largest of which runs along the Crags of Kolryut and through the Peak of Evandyr, the largest mountain in this--and possibly any--world. It is there that humans claim their initial sacrament and creation. To the east of this line lie the civilizations touched by the First Jeriec Empire and later Erinion throughout history, and to the west, those which either never knew such power, or those living among the still smouldering remains of the Avernal Regimes and Caesia Thiir.   Upon the east side of Evandyr, there is also the dividing land known as Old Reivanta (a.k.a. Golryon Wastes), named as such for the cursed city of Reivanta, the first human civilization in any world. None may walk there, save they awaken the Fiendworm... and as such, the rising arcanosciences of the Bay of Evandyr do not spread far. That is, if the magocrats even wished to share their power in the first.   Upon the west side of Evandyr, history takes a spirtual tone, rather than arcane. The druidic dragons, the ancient blood occultists, and the Astromancers of forbidden knowledge all have in common the tie to the spirits of the land. Though these can take forms immeasurable, from the kami and oni of Elysia, to the kikimori and hags and Caixa of Cospia, to the living chieftains, Malik, and Rais of Tarakon.   Lastly, to the extreme south lies the Lost World. Knowledge of this land lies not in ancient texts, for while it is older than all histories, it is newer than those who write of it... For the Lost World is a shard of a fallen moon from among the stars, a visitor from beyond.
