Cervantia and New Alcorin
"Imagine the stories, my dear / When the blood falls like rain / And all the swords are raised against you / my dear, Imagine the stories."
--Caramos the Shifting.
Cervantia is a culture, for it has never been a united state for longer than the time it takes for its disparate factions to send messages insulting eachother. Within its coasts lie sellswords, merchant kings, lone lighthouse-towers of Astromancers and strange spirits alike. While great history settled these coasts and gives them their Erini language family that they hold in common with New Alcorin and the Land of Black Roses, such history is long ago, and gilded with the lens of retrospection. Now, Cervantia is devided among cities and states free of eachothers' control... and they would have it no other way.
Following the Celestial Fall of Caesia Thiir (see Cospia), and the soon later , there existed only one remnant of Erinion in the world that was not plagued by spellscars and living nightmares. In the Erini mining colony of Alcorion. In present day New Alcorin, there were many Erini who found themselves with nonfunctional magitech and no communication with their former home. In fact, their home in Erinion was entirely destroyed, and the colony was half-way to the same fate. From it was born the trader-kingdom known as Cervantia, from 120 - 371 AB. The arcane sciences were lost for a great time, as Alcorion itself was destroyed. With the primal apocalypse threatening land, Cervantia took to the seas, settling every coast for only as long as it would have them, before the land spit them back out to sea. This "settles" Cervantia from the edge of the Meniascar all the way to the Severus del Mar, a coast of a thousand miles, and another five hundred along the coast of the region that would be named the Land of Black Roses. Though these regions held no common state or authority, the bond of culture would be felt in all years following, though they would soon split. The Land of Black Roses would take Elysian culture as well as that of the Regimes, and branch into their language and culture of Kuroi. New Alcorin would branch into the language of Alcor, and attempt to stay true to the culture and architecture of Erinion. The coasts of Cervantia proper speak Cervan, and maintain this common language for centuries. Cervantis Sylastra, capital of New Alcorin, and the Liara Imperium from 907-913 AB.
