Silver Plains

"Hold your idols high and look, my brothers, across the Aldan. A beautiful world of pure green and lush oaks. Though we are not of one faith, this is a reward for our pilgrimage from all the deities. We will be free here, born anew from this cold year, and safe from Them, in the light."

--Tobias Hao-Lin, on the First of Oliana, the Year of the Burning 421 AB.

The Silver Plains before the were home to numerous small clans of tribal humans, who lived entirely off of intelligent irrigation techniques, believing the animals in the world were the messengers and agents of the one true creator. This contrasted with the more violent but long lasting clans of humans in Orion's Fields and Gol, during this time.   The Burning of Erinion did not remove these tribes from the world, but it did leave them defenseless to the wider dangers of the world. While the people of Orion's Fields were wiped out in the early Silent Times, the people of the Silver Plains survived... until they were cursed. It is said that some ancient pact with the Spirit of Evandyr was broken, and they were transformed into quick, hungry beings that craved only flesh of man. These were the first Jaratt, and as the spikes grew from their skulls, their societies collapsed into the earth.   Four hundred years later, after a religious dispute in Golryon over the law-mandated Guardian Faith being unquestionable turned into a decade long drought, religious refugees, pilgrims, and criminals all fled Gol and crossed Feathertip Creep and the Aldan, coming to the Silver Plains, as the cold ice of winter thawed. Here, they founded their own city, of Dinlirys.

A pact, once made, shall not be broken. Do you promise your souls to me if you betray the gift I give you?
