Alcedene
"Alcedene sits nestled in the foothills of the Barrier Mountains. Within this, our most martial Canton, Alcedene is our most martial town. Its prowess comes from its location: It is the first village after the southern pass of the Bulwarks. Any greenskin incursion has to go through Alcedenean lands."
Margrave Arronax Skinner, Elector of Cambreath

Defences
A 10 ft. stone wall made of shaped boulders 5-15 feet across surrounds the town, with a wooden catwalk behind it for defenders. A gatehouse stands at the east and west gates, which are made from heavy oak banded with iron. On the outside of the wall is a deep, 15 foot trench filled with Berrythorn bushes.
Additionally, for a more active defense, Alcedene can call upon it's Balatar, which is considered one of the best in the Confederation.
Industry & Trade
While cultivated farmlands keep Alcedene supplied, its industry is largely based on its status as a frontier town. Furriers, trappers, foragers, and scrimshaw artists dominate their day-to-day commerce and their exports. Erazabethene Whitefeather's medicines are also a recognizable sight across Cambreath and to a lesser extent beyond.
Infrastructure
Erazabethene Whitefeather runs an extremely profitable alchemy business. The Wildbone Inn Inn is the largest hospitality business within 100 miles. An ancient and mysterious tower stands just outside the town, its weird energies converted to a mill for public use that requires neither wind nor labor. A system of thin canals transports water from mountain springs and distributes it around the rolling farmland. Six wells have been dug around town, and a Bathhouse stands for the health and hygiene of the residents.
Assets
Foxhollow Farm supplies ample flax for use in felt and rope. The various one family vegetable and livestock farms in the area supply the village with food at a surplus.
Guilds and Factions
Factionalism in Alcedene generally appears in the form of clannish clashes. Though most of these disagreements are settled in the next melee rather than coming to serious blows.

History
Alcedene was founded in Year 262 as a reward for the final charge of the Alcedene Cavalry, a mercenary unit out of Krezzym. Of the 200 cavalrymen, only 15 survived their noble charge against the Giants during the Northern Acquisition. The 15 soldiers brought their families and formed the original 15 clans of Alcedene. In those days, the Badlands were still human, so the people of Alcedene could focus on their cultural and infrastructure development. After Lake Hope fell, Alcedene unexpectedly became the frontier again, and since then they have suffered one invasion after another, usually as the first to fight and the first refugees when the enemy proves too much. They've developed into hard-bitten frontiersmen over the generations.
Architecture
Alcedene's oldest buildings used large blocks of imported marble, filled with friezes and bas reliefs. The newer ones use locally hewn logs coated in nonflammable tar and covered with smoothed dirt, designed for defensible solidity.
Geography
Foothills interrupted by flattened and cultivated farmland. The furthest west reaches of Alcedene's influence extend into the southern pass of the Bulwarks.
Natural Resources
Fertile soil, silica sand to the south, several salt springs, a granite quarry, and cultivated woodlands.
