10 men and 4 women stand in the town guard. They answer to the Sheriff, Ellayne Warbough, directly.

Equipment

Medium armor, shields, and manacles are all standard issue.

Weaponry

Truncheons, long swords, and light crossbows.

Structure

Ellayne Warbough is in direct command. Her second is Trewin Winteraxe. Seniority takes the place of rank after that.

Tactics

The guards train in harrying tactics, subdual, and if worse comes to worse they train to form a shield wall.

Training

Ellayne starts every morning with an hour-long run around the perimeter of the village. Their chanting and cadence are as much a stable of the sunrise as a rooster's crow is. Ellayne also insists that the guards must compete in every game of melee, bull-in-the-ring, and racing.

The wages, upkeep and training of the guard comes to 216 gp per season.

Alcedenean guards are hand-picked by the Sheriff, who is very picky and can be insistent to say the least.
