Common Worshipers

Jore finds many worshippers amongst athletes, gladiators, soldiers and all others who wish to attain strength or endurance, even if only for a discreet task. It is common, say for folk to offer a prayer to Jore to give them the strength to overcome a physically demanding task or endure the travails and hardships of a long journey.

Priesthood

The priesthood of Jore is unusual in that there is no formal path to become a cleric of Jore. Instead, the Divine anoints those amongst his followers who show impressive feats of strength and endurance with divine powers. Only the strongest and toughest of people have their physical prowess and feats rewarded in such a manner. Often these powers are conferred on those who have trained their whole lives to gain such an honour, there are stories of gladiators who have achieved greatness in the arena being blessed by Jore before the crowds, or warriors who have endured fierce battles and undertaken great feats of bravery being anointed on the field of victory. Some, however, receive Jore’s blessing without seeking it, normally those who have endured great physical trials they did not seek out. For example, there are tales of Jore anointing people who have survived shipwrecks and spent weeks marooned at sea, or those who have trekked for days across the baking sands of the Kaldara desert after losing their way.

Temples

Because of the way Jore anoints his priesthood, there are no dedicated temples of Jore, as the number of clergy available at any one time is too unpredictable. Instead, shrines to Jore are incorporated into places where the Divine's blessing is likely to be granted. For instance, most arenas, gymnasia and training grounds have a shrine to Jore within their complexes. In addition, shrines to Jore can often be found in places that can only be reached by an effort of great physical endurance, such as the peaks of tall mountains etc.

Activities in the Divine War

Initially, Jore fought loyally for his father’s faction, The Astartians and he was regarded as their greatest warrior, second only to Astartes himself. However, as the war dragged on and on, even Jore, with all of his legendary strength and vitality grew weary of the conflict.   Eventually, he was convinced by his sister Hvanmara, that the war did not serve any purpose other than the vainglory of their father, and the two of them entered talks with Malfrost and Samenta, the children of their enemy Polephemon.   Together the four brokered an alliance, known simply as The Siblings and since then they have fought against their divine parents for their own side, hoping to take power over their own destinies that would otherwise, so they believe, be denied to them.

Divine Sigils and Symbols

Jore is most commonly represented by the image of a muscled, naked, male athlete generally in the act of throwing a discus, but other variations exist, such as athletes javelin or hammer throwing. He is also represented by the animal form of a bull.

Divine Links and Progeny

He is the son of Astartes and Wresmella.   He is the father of Fokrella.   He is a member of the divine alliance The Siblings.

Mortal Creations

Jore is only solely responsible for the creation of one mortal race, Giants. He created Giants in an attempt to create mortal beings who could come as close as any mortal could to matching his strength, with the idea that they might prove to be useful training partners. However, despite the natural strength and size of Giants, only a small handful of the oldest Giants met Jore’s expectations and over the centuries his interest in majority who did not match his standards waned.   However, Jore is a rather promiscuous sole and he has fathered several other races through copulation. Ogres and Goliaths are the results of nights of passion that Jore has had with Giants over the years, with enough of them being the result of his inhibitions that they were able to become self-sustaining populations of their own, to the point that they can now be found all over Kelbonnar.   Also in this vein, Jore was tricked into mating with, what he thought was a giantess, but in fact turned out to be a Demon, who then went on to give birth to the first Minotaur.
