History

House Cray of Baremaw
Until their elevation under King Tyon I Cray, for hundreds of years House Cray were the Lords and Ladies of Baremaw, a castle on the Eastern foothills of The Witwells, north of The Pass. The most Northerly of House Gaunt's Vassals, the house has also enjoyed strong relationships with its neighbours in the Skanler and Blackbar Duchies, and benefited from close proximity to the capital.
ser Tyon Cray, Lord of Baremaw
Born to ser Matthis Cray and Lady Tiffally Cray-Slynt in 402KS, Tyon grew alongside his adopted brother Newall. Both boys squired for ser Elysande Haynes, then the Castellan, with Tyon earning his knighthood putting down The Revolt at Summerswind in 419KS. In the year 428KS ser Matthis passed away in his sleep and ser Tyon became the Lord of Baremaw.
The Somercrag Revolution of 441KS
Tyon was present in the royal court at Bayglen in March of 441KS when ser Sola Somercrag, then heir to the throne, received news of conflict stirring within The Hayford Duchy and called for knights to join her in riding to investigate. Tyon joined Her Party, riding to the city of Allerton to confront Duke Brennar Hayford. The full events at Allerton and The Ambush on the Kingsroad are detailed elsewhere, but when news of ser Sola's death broke, Tyon refused to accept the version of events given - he had seen with his own eyes the conspiracy against Duke Brennar and ser Sola, and could not accept the 'truth' put forth by the crown, that Brennar had slain Sola. Instead, at the The Tourney at Fairstrand in July of 441KS he rose up in rebellion against House Somercrag, drawing the support of many other houses and ultimately marching on the capital, storming the palace, and killing Queen Malina Somercrag in a war referred to as The Somercrag Revolution of 441KS. The war officially ended on the last day of that year, with King Tyon I Cray crowned on the first day of the year 442KS.
House Cray of Bayglen
King Tyon I Cray has overseen a number of changes already, despite the relatively short span of his reign. He formed a new Duchy from the lands siezed from Irogonie after The Irogonie Aggression. This title he granted to his brother, ser Newall Foxworth. A year and a half later he gave royal assent to a campaign led by ser Allon Southbay to overthrow Duchess Hallkatla Darklyn, elevating Allon's house to that Duchal seat. Outside the borders of Somercrag, Tyon I has been the first monarch of Somercrag to make a state visit to the other nations in The Continent of Greland, spending several months touring The Kingdom of Rotheval in the company of Princett Nym Cimber. Plans to visit the royal court in Greenpeak in The Kingdom of Irogonie were unfortunately stalled by diplomatic complications with that nation. Tyon I has also visited various parts of Baycotte and The Lamas Plains, and has opened spaces on his Royal Council for each of the other nations in Greland to send an Advisor. King Tyon I has also established an order of knights, The Kingsguard of Tyon I Cray, who are currently Led By ser Astris Conklyn.
