Devil
The little devil on your shoulder.
Devil's are a sub-race of Demon, and the demons of Pride. They are considered the highest class demons due to their strength and good looks.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Devils appear to be similar to humans, they tend have many of the same features, but with a few noticeably demonic additions. The tends to have large horns growing from their heads that can vary in style. They will typically be symmetrical, though it's possible for them to break and grow back unevenly. They tend to have long, thin tails emerging from their spine that in in small hairs like that of a bovine's. They tend to have dark claws and sharp fangs for attacking and self defense.
Coloration wise, devils tend to have a wide range of hues, though they tend to have a very consistent color palette. Tones tend to be darker with little saturation. Sclera in the eyes are always black, but irises can be yellow, red, white, pale blue, or neon green. In some rare cases, the entire eye is white with a barely noticable iris, and no pupil.
Devils have acidic blood that can burn human flesh and melt rock, and skin that is resistant to extreme temperatures. They can heal themselves from nearly any injury given it doesn't kill them and they have enough time for the flesh to regrow. Devil's all have third eye that is the source of their power and their soul. It usually matches their eye color. These can be removed to completely incapacitate the demon and can either be used as magical power sources or consumed to make them a part of the devil. Some demons have multiple 'third eyes' from consuming so many.
Abilities
Aside form their physical capabilities, devils primarily use an advanced form of Dark Magic known as demon magic. This form of magic allows them to enhance the abilities of other magic spells to make them far more powerful and dangerous. Most devil have some form of magic, and a far stronger than any mortal mage. They are able to possess mortals and control their bodies, giving them physical access to the surface world. Most demons have to make a deal with a human in order to accomplish this. A blood contract is made a the demon has to hold up their end of the bargain or be expelled from the body. However devils are master manipulators and will be purposefully vague or deceptive about their end of the deal in order to trick mortals. Their primary weakness is, like all demons, is Light Magic, which can be used to exorcise them from a mortal body and send them back to the underworld, or even kill them if strong enough. They can also be killed by physical attacks if they are in the underworld. If you pluck out their third eye, their body willfall into a vegetative state until the eye is returned to them or the body is destroyed.Genetics and Reproduction
Before, the The Hundreds Year War, Suhkor was able to turn human souls into devils himself, but after his death. But after wards they could only make more devils through reproducing, which was difficult as their undead bodies had issues conceiving and maintaining pregnancies. The devils that are born this way are much stronger than demons born of human souls, but also tend to have less humanity or empathy.
A human soul that has passed on and ended up in the Underworld can become also devil if they manage to steal the eye of a devil and eat it. If the soul is not strong willed enough, the demon will possess their body and consume their soul. If they are however, they will transform into a devil. Consuming the eyes of fallen High Angels will also reproduce this effect, but with a 100% chance of becoming a devil, regardless of the soul's will.
Growth Rate & Stages
Devils who are born age similarly to humans, but at a much faster rate, usually reaching physical adult hood at 8 or 10 years old. It's especially noticeable when they are young, as infants will often learn how to walk and talk in a matter of months.
Horns
Devil children will typically have their horns be stumpy nubs at birth, but will slowly grow out as they age. Even after reaching adult hood, horns will often continue to grow, albeit at a much slower rate. They will also eventually grow back when broken off. Older devils often spend time grinding down and sharpening their horns to keep them looking nice.Additional Information
Geographic Origin and Distribution
Devils can be found nearly anywhere in Underworld, however many flock to The Demented City to live with other devils and live normal, everyday afterlives. Others would rather simply settle somewhere in the Bleak Wilderness. Many can also be found near Brimstone as many devils produce fire magic and prefer the heat.
Average Intelligence
Devils are the most intelligent demon species, as they often come from well educated souls. They are also the best at maintaining their sanity. They are skilled at manipulating others and thinking one step ahead of other demons.
Civilization and Culture
Beauty Ideals
Being demons of Pride, they usually find their own species to be the most beautiful, ideal demon. They believe the more human you can pass, the more attractive you are.
Average Technological Level
Since many devils are born from mortal souls, they have taken their knowledge of the surface world with them and implement them in underworld society. The Demented City is the best example of this, as it is a bustling metropolis, much like the ones you would find on Earth with human technology like electricity, automobiles, and phones.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Devils tend to look down on other species of demon, as is their nature as pride demons. Devil's take control over much of the Underworld and are very intent on keeping other demons in their place and the lower end of the totem pole. They particularly hate Shades, considering them abominations, and being frustrated by their power that threatens to out match them.
They have even less respect for mortals, often lacking empathy for them and seeing them more as food and tools than equals.
