Sigurn’s Gate
Sigurn's Gate is a fortress and watchtower located in the north west of Hepsut, with it situated on the western banks of the Indara River, and near the mouth of the river to it's north.
Sigurn's Gate is controlled by the Coven of Maran, with it standing watch over the mouth of the Indara River, guarding the mainland against pirates and other hostile foreign vessels, as well as taxing trade ships that wish to travel upstream to the Maran Docks. Sigurn's Gate also serves as the Coven's naval base, with it housing an armada of ships, the nation's navy, which often combat the pirates of the Dreadpenny Fleet, and protect trade vessels traveling the Red Current.
Sigurn's Gate is named after the family of Oramis Sigurn, the current Archmage of Chronomancy, and one of the Heads of the Coven of Maran, who funded the construction of the fortress in 518 AF.
Government
Sigurn's Gate is governed by an Admiral, the commander of the Coven of Maran's navy, who reports to both the Coven Heads, and the Council of Maran.
Defence
Sigurn's Gate is defended by an armada of ships, the Coven of Maran's navy, which are commanded by the Admiral of the fortress.
Commerce
Sigurn's Gate imports almost all of it's supplies and resources, and has no major exports.
Sigurn's Gate also taxes all trade ships that travel up the Indara River.
Geography
Sigurn's Gate is a large fortress situated on the western banks of the Indara River, near the mouth of the river to it's north.
Sigurn's Gate is not actually a gate, but a large, stone tower, which watches over the river's mouth, as well as serving as a lighthouse, lighting the way for passing ships. At the base of the tower is a small walled courtyard, which houses the barracks of the sailors stationed there, as well as a large military port, located outside the walls, and on the riverfront, at which is commonly docked numerous warships, the navy of the Coven of Maran.
