Franeshir

Franeshir is a large, lakeside, village, located in the south of Hepsut, situated on the banks of Neldë-Aelin lake, and near the border of the Arkand Wilds.

Franeshir is under the jurisdiction of the Coven of Maran, but largely acts independently, with the local government given almost total control over local policy. The people of Franeshir also elect their own Minister, which is supported by the Coven, who advise the Minister on local matters, and usually only interfere when aid is requested, or when the Minister is found abusing their power.

Franeshir is famed for it's almost constant rainfall, due to it's proximity to the Arkand Peaks and the concentrated rain clouds that surround the peaks. it is incredibly rare for it not to be raining in Franeshir.

The population of Franeshir also has an intense rivalry with its neighbours of Isreim and Presran, with the settlements often competing in all manner of competitions, from sports, to commerce and fishing hauls. Unfortunately, Franeshir is the underdog in these competitions due to it's smaller population.

Franeshir is located in a rather isolated position, with it only accessible by boat over Neldë-Aelin, chartered from Isreim or Presran, as no roads connect to it. It is unknown why Franeshir was settled at all, but because of it's isolation, Franeshir's population has gradually been dwindling, as it's young people move away to bigger cities in search of better lives.

Government

Franeshir is governed by a Minister, who is elected by the local population every ten years, and is supported by the Coven of Maran.

Defence

Franeshir is defended by a small garrison of Enforcers, lead by an Overseer, the local police force of the Coven of Maran. Reinforcements can be called over from the larger garrison in nearby Presran if necessary.

Commerce

Franeshir has a small trade of lumber, harvested from the nearby Arkand Wilds, as well as a small fishing trade, caught from the Neldë-Aelin lake.

Geography

Franeshir is a walled village located on the western banks of the Neldë-Aelin lake, and near the borders of the Arkand Wilds. A few farmsteads lie on the land outside of the village walls.

Franeshir is surrounded by a short, wooden wall, with the town itself is a collection of simple, mostly wooden buildings, with a small harbour located at the lakefront.
