Maran Docks
The Maran Docks are a large harbour located on the western banks of the Indara River in northern Hepsut, situated to the north east of the city of Maran Docks.
The Maran Docks is under the jurisdiction of the Coven of Maran, and serves as the naval port for the capital city of Coven of Maran, with numerous goods and resources passing through it, travelling to and from Maran via Sigurn's Road. Most ships arriving at the Maran Docks first stop at Calgern Port, before travelling upstream and passing through Sigurn’s Gate.
Despite not officially being a settlement, the Maran Docks sports a healthy population, many of whom work at the docks, or run local establishments that cater to the passing sailors.
Government
The Maran Docks are governed by a Portreeve (Port Warden), who is appointed by the council of Maran.
Defence
The Maran Docks are defended by a garrison of Enforcers, lead by an Overseer, the local police force of the Coven of Maran.
Commerce
All naval trade travelling to the city of Maran, as well as the other settlements in western Hepsut, pass through the Maran Docks, with many warehouses for storing goods, and couriers awaiting shipments in the docks, ready to transport them to the city.
The Maran Docks have a healthy number of taverns and inns, which cater to the traders and sailors that travel through the docks, as well as a small fishing trade, which cultivate the nearby Indara Lake.
Geography
The Maran Docks are a large harbour located on the western banks of the Indara River, it is predominantly an industrial area, with local residence located away from the harbour, at the south western side of the docks.
The harbour stretches down the coast, with numerous stone and wooden piers for passing trade ships, with a small section on the eastern side reserved for local fishing vessels. A large light house lies at the centre of the harbour, with cranes located on the larger piers, ready to transport goods off the ships. A couple of wooden warehouses also lie near the harbour.
The village on the outskirts of the harbour is a ramshackle collection of simple, wooden building, that flank the Sigurn's Road. The buildings nearest to the road are usually taverns, inns and bathhouses, and are generally fancier than the rest of the buildings, many of them having fancy signs, and being built with stone. While the local residents live further into the claustrophobic network of streets and alleys behind the businesses.
