Yaren

An isolated city located to the east of Hepsut and the home of the Yaren people. The city is locked off from visitors with access only permitted on rare circumstances.
Yaren is the rival city to Maran, both of whom survived the Fall of Arcanum and both are governed by ancient mageocracies. Some even speculate that the city may have also formerly been one of the floating cities of Arcanum.
Yaren prides itself on its wealth of knowledge, containing vast libraries of magical knowledge. The Yaren people also maintain ancient traditions from when the Sun Elves still worshipped the God Helios before the Age of Arcanum.
The people of Yaren are most notable for their ritualistic tattoos and piercings that cover their whole body, allowing them to use their own skin as spellbooks for their spells.
The majority of Yarens population are Sun Elves.

Government: 

Yaren is governed by a council of mages that were trained to lead the city called the Yastari. One of its members sits on the Coven of Maran.

Defence:

Yaren is defended by an elite militia of spellcasters known as the Sunblades.

Commerce: 

Yaren is self-sufficient and does not trade goods or wares.

Geography: 

The city is built within large white walls of marble. Within the walls are a uniform collection of marble walled buildings built in concentric circles leading to six large spires that rise out of the city's centre.
