Basalar

Basalar is an industrial town located in the south east of Hepsut, situated within the valley of the Khagh Mountains, and near the banks of the Molduhr River. A majority of the town's population are Dwarves.

Basalar is under the jurisdiction of the Triumvirate of Kahz Molduhr, and has an industrial focus on stonework, particularly the cutting and trade of marble from a large deposit found within the nearby Khagh Mountains, which is shipped across Exorsia. The quarries are owned by Ætt Helzvog, one of the three houses that make up the Triumvirate. Ætt Helzvog also owns much of the town's shops and housing, which are rented to the local workers.

Government

Basalar is governed by a Governor, who is appointed by the Triumvirate of Kahz Molduhr, particularly the king of Ætt Helzvog, who own the local quarries and much of the town.

Defence

Basalar is defended by a garrison of Triumvirate Guard, the local guard of the Triumvirate of Kahz Molduhr.

Commerce

Basalar has a lucrative export of marble, being located near the largest deposit of marble on Exorsia, which is shipped across the world, often to be used in the construction of temples and shrines. Basalar also exports many other minerals and ores which it cultivates from the local mines beneath the Khagh Mountains.

Basalar also has a small trade of lumber, cultivated from the nearby Arkand Wilds, as well as fish from the Molduhr River. But a mix of deforestation and overfishing has left both industries struggling to keep up with demand.

Geography

Basalar is a industrial town located within the Khagh Mountains valley, situated between the Molduhr River to the south, and the base of the mountains to the north.

To the north of the town, located at the base of the mountain, is the massive, marble quarry, a large, blocky hole of smooth cut marble dug, into the mountainside, the town's primary industry, and where a majority of the population are employed.

The town itself is comprised of numerous, small, stone terrace houses, all uniform in a grid, with the town centre housing the town's local shops, amenities and businesses.
