Navin
Navin is a large industrial town located in the west of Hepsut, situated on the western banks of the Ashfall River, and in the shadow of the Ashfall Range.
Navin is under the jurisdiction of the Coven of Maran, but largely acts independently, with the local government given almost total control over local policy. The people of Navin also elect their own Minister, which is supported by the Coven, who advise the Minister on local matters, and usually only interfere when aid is requested, or when the Minister is found abusing their power.
Navin has an industrial focus on mining, cultivating ore, stone and other resources from beneath the Ashfall Range, with the entire local mining industry being nationalised by the local government. The skies and streets of Navin are often clouded in a thick smoke due to the local ironworks and blacksmiths, which use the resources from the local mines to produce parts and wares to be shipped across the continent.
Government
Navin is governed by a Minister, who is elected by the local citizens every five years, and is supported by the Coven of Maran.
Defence
Navin is defended by a garrison of Enforcers, lead by an Overseer, the local police force of the Coven of Maran.
Commerce
Navin is the primary supplier of ore and stone across the Coven of Maran, cultivating the town's extensive mine network beneath the Ashfall Range, as well as the nearby stone quarries near the base of the mountains.
Navin is also the industrial heart of the Coven of Maran, with multiple factories and plants located across the town. Most of the ore extracted from the local mines being smelted down by the numerous local ironworks and blacksmiths to produce metals and parts for manufacturing, as well as to produce tools, weapons and armour. These goods are then shipped across the continent.
Navin has numerous salt farms, located to the south of the town, on the coast of the Ashfall Sea, as well as a sizable fishing industry, cultivating the nearby Ashfall River and Ashfall Sea. This is the main local source of food for the town, as the land around the Ashfall Range is not suited for farmland, with the rest of the settlements' food being imported from elsewhere in the nation.
Geography
Navin is a large town, situated on the western banks of the Ashfall River, near the river's mouth as it leads into the Ashfall Sea. The land near the sea is mainly occupied by large salt farms, that stretch along the coast. Navin is also located to the east of the Ashfall Range, at which reside numerous mining operations and stone quarries.
The town of Navin itself is a sprawling collection of warehouses and factories, interspersed with neighbourhoods of stone, terrace house, and all connected by narrow roads and pathways, as though no thought or planning put into their positioning. The town is usually clouded in a thick smoke, produced by the local industry, and a small harbour lies on the riverfront, that mainly houses local fishing vessels.
