Naming themselves the Burnside Mercenaries after their hometown of Hearthsfire, the mercenaries would become renowned adventurers. Before their fame, they were contracted to locate and eradicate a were-beast, the team spent much of their year hunting the beast whilst destroying witch cults along the way. In the process, they helped construct a fair portion of the Second Balsam Keep.

The version that was sent into the future would become known as Iron Maiden and the magic would grant her astronomical powers. After winning the battle, the heroes were then teleported by the wizard to the Last Bastion Inn and were told to wait for the wizard's return. Handed a pile of gold, the team then waited patiently for the next step in their quest.

    On Earth, a struggling scientist who'd already over shot his time traveling target by five years, attempted to modify his gear to a surprising result. Though originally intended to harness cosmic energy, the adjustment allowed the scientist to harness the energy of Keléstia and use that energy to open portals to the many worlds the energy was connected to including Abeir-Toril. Spending the day traveling between them, the scientist would inevitably run in to trouble on the planet Kèthîra and be forced to enter another type of portal entirely. Expecting to open up a door into a proper doorway, the scientist actually opened a door to The Spire in O’Kuultaele Vairtatiis; where upon he would remained trapped in the city below until his equipment was repaired.
