The Dawning Empire

ounded by Emperor Davistan I 60 years after The Breach and Avlar's ascent to godhood, the Dawning Empire spans the continent of Daënfel in a loose conglomerate of the cities and territorial boundaries that Avlar conquered three centuries ago. Most notably, the once-great kingdom of Eá-galwen once stretched across nearly half of this world, and it was in this nation's ashes that the embers of the Empire were born.
The Empire is split into four quadrants, governed now by powerful organizations that rose to prominence in the wake of The Breach and the untold destruction that befell the land as the gates of The Maw opened.
It is the Davistan line of Emperors that hold absolute authority as the top of the Empire's political food chain. These god-given rulers were given custodian of the lands by the The Green Knight, the patriarch of the Avanís Pantheon. However, as civilizations dealt with The Breach over the last 300 years, it is the factions of the Empire that have the most impact on a citizen's day-to-day life.

North West - The Founding Fathers, the traditionalist and theocratical leaders of Trinity who oversee the lands of Avlar's Folly that stretch out from the ruined kingdom of Avalon.

South West - The Heartlands, which comprise most of the lands of the old Kingdom of Eá-galwen, are now governed personally by Emperor Davistan XIV and his noble retinue from the Empire's capital, Hope.

South East - The Weavers & Spinners Union are a collection of enterprising businesses and committees that lead the people of Old Nissia from Helias, City of Silks, located along The Nissien Coast.

North East - Talented and progressive mages make up the ranks of The Conclave of the Fifth, who scheme and plot from the beautiful valley city of Dol Gadmen, located at the northern reaches of the Thousand Mile Steppe.

Beyond the Empire's borders to the far north-east lie the Unbound Lands, a region claimed by the Northmen who claim no allegiance to the Empire. A string of violent raids down the eastern coast of the Empire a few decades ago have strained the relations between the Empire and the clans, but of late there has been a period of peace and prosperity amongst the border communities with trade resuming as normal.
To the south-east, far beyond the endless seas that surround Daënfel lie The Orodani Federation - a name that is feared more than any other amongst the Empire's populace. Two bloody wars have been fought with the distant Federation since the Empire's founding, and very few can claim to know much about their people save for their dark magics, strange appearance and unending lust for blood and dominion over the people of this land.
The 14th and current ruler of the Dawning Empire, Emperor Davistan XIV is in his waning years. After leading the Empire as a strongminded and strategic ruler for over three decades, many expect the Emperor to soon abdicate to the eldest of his two sons, Matteus IV.
