Heartlands Climate and Culture
he old kingdom of Eá-galwen was once renowned across Daënfel as the founding nation of this world. The kingdom was founded by the First Men - the first beings to bask in the grace of the Avanís Pantheon, and it is here that the oldest of structures and traditions are followed. The Heartlands now make up what was left of the Kingdom before it was destroyed by Avlar during his conquest, and the sacking of Carrag Nuine. Lush rolling hills or fields and farmland dominate the landscape, with quaint forests, great lakes and bright blue rivers dotting the picturesque lands of the Heartlands. Along all the waterbodies and on every hilltop is another Galweni farmstead or hamlet community - their number unfathomable. The country hills are home to many homesteads of sheep herders and cattle drivers. In the shadier woods, game such as deer and boar roam among the glades and spaced out boughs of broadleaf trees. Around the road to Port Montague farmers plant and grow fields of vegetables such as corn, potato, carrot and pumpkin. Surrounding Carrag Nuinë - the ancestral seat of the land - farmers grow fields of wheat, rye and barley. The people here are very specific about their colours and heraldry; every single village is represented by its own crest and banner. Knightly orders are aplenty in this land, with lone stone tower heralding a Knight's domain over the surrounding countryside. The Chevalier and The Green Knight are the two Gods particularly revered by the Heartland's warriors for their might and sense of justice. Since the founding of the Dawning Empire and the Davistan lines of Emperors, Hope, the city of Dawn has stood as the region's Capital. Located near the doors to The Maw and upon the holy site of The Gods Willow, Hope stands as a bastion of light in a world that has fought against the darkness for centuries.
