The Gods Willow

This ancient tree stood tall and proud over the isle of Ban Elsir on Lake Lumelor, next to the original fishing village that now marks the site of Hope, the city of Dawn. The great willow tree grew next to an emerald pool, and was said to actually be two separate trunks knotted and tangled amongst one another so that they were indistinguishable.   This was a place of power where worshippers and pilgrims from across the continent would come to revere The Green Knight and his pantheon's victory over the Titan that came before. In folklore, this ancient place was said to be a gateway to the home of the Gods.   The Gods Willow was cut down by one of Avlar's generals during his conquest, a dwarven warlord known as Moracen, which is widely regarded as one of the worst events of sacrilege comitted in the history of this world. Moracen's destruction in the name of Avlar is still a major point of contention in the theological debates about the Avanís Pantheon.   Now, the site of the Gods Willow is known as the 'Green Cathedral'. The Cathedral is a series of willows that surround the emerald pool, which much of the remains of the original twin trees fell into. On the stump of the two great trees sits a miniature cutting of the original trees in a marble pot, which has been grown these last few centuries.
