The Avanís Pantheon

he Pantheon that presides over Daënfel consists of 9 deities. These 9 extraplanar beings came to this world and battled against the Titan; a gargantuan behemoth that roamed the stars, and who's end heralded the beginning of time in this world.   From the Titan's body they shaped the land, creating the mountains, hills, forests and lakes seen today. Such was their love for their new home that they wished to share it, and so they created the Dagnir Sen - the first custodians of this world.   Once, the Avanís walked this world alongside their creations, helping them achieve marvelous heights in wizardry and alchemy, or build wonderous monuments. However, since Avlar, The God-King's ascension and the end of Death's role in the Cycle, the Avanís are seldom seen interacting with mortals in recent years.   The power of Gods in this world is determined by the strength of their following - meaning the more followers a God has and the stronger their followers, the more influence that God has over this world.   The politics of the Gods defines much of Daënfel's culture. Some Gods are allied and work together to nurture their followers, while others are in conflict and try to claim faith from the world's people.   Many names have been given to this group of Gods over time. Avanís was the name of the Pantheon in the time of Eá-galwen, before Avlar's conquest. In the wake of his ascension, the Gods were simply called the Daënfel Pantheon, which lasted only a short while until the Empire was founded and claimed these beings to be the Dawning Pantheon, in whose name the Empire has shone ever since.   The Nine are split into three sets of three: The Protector Gods, The Wizened Ones, and The Keepers of the Cycle.
