The Cycle

At the core of the belief system surrounding The Avanís Pantheon and the slaying of the Titan lies 'The Cycle' - the birth of life in Daënfel and the assurance for its continued existence.   The Cycle is embodied as an astral stream with three distinct parts, each representing one of the Keepers of the Cycle. These are:   First the embodiment of innocence known as Death roamed the world acting as a guide for the souls of the lost, claiming their power and relinquishing that essence to the Life Stream.   Watching over these souls as they flow down river are the many oaks of The Green Knight, whose roots run deep within the stream and whose branches hand low over the currents. The Green Knight's purpose is to ensure the safety of a soul's essence - no soul shall go astray or be disturbed under the patriach's watchful eye.   At the end of the stream lies the domain of The Arbiter, who then receives this essence and begins to sow it back into the many corners of Daënfel, ensuring life prospers. Not much is known about the Arbiter's domain - it is this mystery that leads to the many depictions of the Arbiter across the many denizens of Daënfel, as different cultures interpet their role in the Cycle in various ways.   This all changed however, with the rise of Avlar, The God-King. As the conqueror slew Death and claimed her power, the functioning of the Cycle and his role have become less clear. Life still flows into Daënfel, but clerics and scholars alike debate Avlar's devotion to his role as the new usher to the dead.   Pictured: A door to the Life Stream, as depicted by the knight Karrar, Icon of the Moon during his early career.
