Emperor Davistan XIV

The current ruler of the Dawning Empire and sovereign of the lands of Daënfel, Emperor Xavier Davistan XIV, known as 'The Bold', is an imposing fellow - even as he approaches his seventh decade.
From his Golden Throne in the Capital of Hope, the city of Dawn, the Emperor dictates the laws and ethics of the land in which he rules.
Despite his title of 'the Bold', the Emperor is known as a benevolent man. He is described as tall like his father - even said to be quite intimidating in his time - but with age has seen his frame has shrunk to a very thin man. He earned his title from his penchant for action; throughout his reign there were many occasions where his quick decisions saved many of his citizens lives.
Most notable of these incidents is the scourge of pirates that ravaged Daënfel's eastern shores - a problem he inherited from his late father, Davistan XIII the Tall. This was swiftly dealt with relatively early into the Emperor's rule, and few conflicts have arisen in the times since.
In fact, many would say that the Emperor has had the good luck to see over the Empire during a time of prosperity and peace. It was a wise and strategic mind that this world needed, and the Empire has thrived these last three decades under the Emperor's rule. With only one particularly dramatic scandal in recent memory, the many factions of the Empire have maintained relative peace in recent years.
The peace was not to last forever, as the Emperor finds himself particularly tested at the moment. The recent assassination of the High Prelate of Trinity, coupled with his speech addressing an increase in attacks at The Maw has landed the Emperor in hot water recently, and doubts have begun to rise amongst the populace about his ability to reign at his age. His eldest child, Matteus IV - is expected to inherit the throne in the near future.
Friday the 13th of Rova, 1333
Emperor Davistan XIV was assassinated during a feast at Carrag Nuine, with all fingers pointed at the The Federation. His son, Matteus IV was quickly crowned as Emperor Davistan XV, to inspire unity before he marched to meet the Orodáni Invasion.
