The Third Federation War

oinciding with the assassination of Emperor Davistan XIV at Carrag Nuine, Orodáni ships were sighted off the coast of Helias, starting what would come to be known as the Third Federation War.
Helias was quickly routed from within - mercenaries and spies dismanteling critical response infrastructure in the days before the attack, making the naval raid by the Orodáni devastating. It took some weeks for the city to fully be taken, as the Weavers & Spinners Union fought valiantly on the streets against the invaders. It is said that even now a resistance still remains within the city, led by the famous Larsa Igigi.
The port city of Whitehaven was heavily damaged by dragonfire, as a fleet of Orodáni sieged the city by sea. Fort Belegor too was surrounded and is in a prolonged siege, but not before the elven forces of Olwyn Cariad stationed there rained fire and death on the ships attempting to penetrate further into the Empire.
Matteus IV, now newly crowned as Emperor Davistan XV, gathered his armies at Carrag Nuine before marching into the Nissien Coast to meet the ground forces of the Orodáni marching from Helias. Little information has travelled across the Empire about the battles that occurred here so far, but talk of undeath and retreat is rife in the air. Some hushed criticism has been whispered about the new Emperor, rashly marching his forces into the heat and sands of Old Nissia.
Recently, news has spread that the Empire has suffered a massive naval defeat off the southern coast of the continent, as magical fire took to the Empire fleets sailing out of Port Montague. This fleet was the primary defence of the western coast of Daënfel, and in the fallout of this defeat a raiding party was spotted and beaten back at the small town of Lightning Bluffs, which had been suffering from a mysterious plague for the last year.
Following this, it was said that the Orodáni armies were heading deeper within the Empire, seemingly making their way towards the Capital Hope. In response, Emperor Davistan XV gathered his remaining forces at Carrag Nuine, preparing to make a counterstrike against the hordes of the invaders.
Yet the Capital was not their target. A suprise assault on the defences at The Maw saw the Knights of the Eclipse overwhelmed, occupied with yet another assault from the creatures spewing forth from The Depths Below. Before the sun had set, Emperor Davistan XV had received the declarations demanding the unconditional surrender of the Empire, the Federation forces threatening to open the Maw wider if their demands were not met.
An uneasy, unofficial ceasefire has begun, the Empire forces in complete disarray at this bold threat and the Orodáni seemingly content with holding the key objectives they have already claimed.
