Whitehaven
A stunning island located off the Eastern coast of Daënfel, this location - renowned for its pristine white sand - is the site of a newly formed naval base with the same name.
The Empire's naval fleet are stationed and operate out of Whitehaven, securing the Eastern and Southern coasts of the Empire against foreign threats and keeping the waters safe for travellers and merchants.
The navy is governed by the naval Admiral of the Empire, while the city is governed by Whitehaven's mayor, who both share responsibilities and administrative duties. The Conclave of the Fifth claim jurisdiction over the administration and functioning of the city, however the Admiral and the naval base report directly to the Empire.
This island was not uninhabited before the Empire's naval forces settled here. A small tribe of islanders have lived here for generations. They spoke a varied form of Galweni - the language of old Eá-galwen. Incorporation of these islanders into society has been 'peaceful', with some choosing to integrate back into civlization. Others remain on the Eastern sides of the island, preferring to keep to themselves.
The island is stunningly beautiful. Coastal vistas, shady palm trees and pearly marble - the area is considered one of the most enchanting locations of the Empire. One of the latest trends of the Empire is for old and wealthy families to develop plots of land on the island, creating these luxury retreats and holiday homes. This new construction continues to creep Eastward, towards the islander communities, which have stirred recent tensions as of late.
The current mayor of Whitehaven is a young priestess of The Arbiter known as Aeloria, who has recently risen to power uncontested as a kind and pure heart amongst the community. She is said to devoutly protect the interests of the land and its original inhabitants, despite what the rich and powerful of the Empire might want.
The harvests of the seas are the primary trade of Whitehaven, with fish, oysters, clams and pearls being traded with the mainland. Bountiful island fruits are also prized as a luxury, including mangoes, papaya and coconuts.
