Avlar's Folly Climate and Culture
vlar's Folly is a rich region of dense, moss-covered forests, full of life. Bright blue rivers snake between the heavy-laden coniforous trees, full of ore deposits flowing down from the mountains of the Lower Rhakhis. This land is very old. During the time of Avlar, The God-King and his predecessors, the northern parts of Avlar's Folly were heavily settled to provide for the city of Avalon. Since the city's demise, many old estates and farmsteads have fallen to ruin and been reclaimed by the forest. Mist and swamps are common in the northern parts of the Folly, giving an eerie sense of foreboding to travellers the further north they go. The region's expansive coastline is known for its harsh weather - storms wracking the few small villages that eek out their survival along the western shores of the continent. To the east, ruined orcish holds dominate the foothills, and bands of ne'er-do-wells camp amidst the shadows of the dangerous Rhakhis Peaks. Mostly untamed, the vast region is safeguarded by the Trinity Guard - a large force of soldiers who operate independently from the Prelates of the Founding Fathers to protect the city from threats both outside and within. The vast majority of the population live on the south side of the region, on the main trade route between Trinity and Wallsend. The people of this region are proudly devoted to their religious beliefs - the area often being labelled 'The Battlefield of the Gods' as the followers of the deities within the Avanís Pantheon struggle for control and influence over the area's people. All within Avlar's Folly accept Avlar's ascension. With this constant religious conflict, this area has bred some smaller factions that represent the extemeties of both sides of the religious spectrum. The The Sons of Avlar were first formed in Wallsend over a century ago, and The Forsaken have resided within the northern hills and forests since the destruction of Avalon.
