Rhakhis Peaks Climate and Culture
pine of the World' - the Rhakhis Peaks are the backbone of the great Titan that the Gods slew in ages past. The mountains are split into two distinct regions - the Lower Rhakhis and the Upper Rhakhis. The Lower Rhakhis includes all of the parts of the mountain range claimed by the Dawning Empire, while the Upper Rhakhis consists of the more wild and unexplored territory north of the Empire's holdings. The Lower Rhakhis is certainly the climate that Empire citizens are more familiar with - heavily forested hills leading up to snow-capped mountains, with glistening clear streams flowing each and every way from the mountaintops. The area is certainly dangerous - harpies, drakes, griffons and trolls are all known to inhabit the regions of the Lower Rhakhis - but monsters are part and parcel of everyday life in the Empire. Notable areas of the Lower Rhakhis include The Maw, the ancient gateways from which all monsters originate, and the dangerous Tee-Niyan Pass. The Upper Rhakhis is an entirely different beast. This untamed wilderness of glacial fjords, taiga and frigid peaks is unforgiving and relentless. Snowstorms wrack the region more often than not, and fables tell of the battles between the giants and dragons that inhabit this region. The clansmen of the Unbound Lands avoid the mountains wherever possible, with the only murmur of civilization in the area being the hidden city of Gorgol, which many from the Empire do not believe exists.
