London

London, of course, is the capital of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland (and of the British Empire). Much of the city is as it was historically, but of course, Albion has its own spaces.

Magical communities

London has three portals, with a magical community centred around each one. They function as smaller villages within the much larger city, largely hidden away from non-magical folks. However, since they were built and improved with magical techniques, they're less likely to have fires, floods, illness, or other health risks.

Bedford Square

The centre of the academically minded magical community, thanks to its proximity to the British Museum and the British Library. The Research Society is based here. The Petrie Collection (mentioned in Magician's Hoard) is located at University College London.   The non-magical streets overlapping with Bloomsbury are very popular with the arty set.   This is also the home of an inn (mentioned in Carry On).

Southwark

The centre of the booktrade for the magical communities, as it is for the non-magical. Bookshops, small presses, and a number of related trades can be found here.   Lynet Alder's's workshop and flat is near the Southwark portal.

Spitalfields

The core of the Jewish community (magical and non-magical) as well as other immigrant communities focused on trade. There's generally far more mixing between magical and non-magical families here, though of course those sworn to the Pact keep their word. There's a glimpse of Spitalfields in The Fossil Door and Three Tales of Gabe and Rathna.

Nearby

Illusion of a Boar takes place in Richmond, west of London, near the Old Sheen Palace and Richmond Park.

Historically

Old As The Hills talks about the original portal in London, created by the Fatae.
Learn about the exact location.
It's located in the base of the White Tower at the Tower of London about midway along the south wall. (And as Gabe notes, about three feet west from where two bodies sometimes thought to be the Princes in the Tower were found.)
