Kingdom of Valonia
Kingdom at the River's end
Kingdom of Valonia was a sovereign state on the west coast of South Estisia. It was found in 400 BVE and dissolved in 30 BVE shortly before the restoration as the empire in 1 VE.
The walled city of Valone serving as the capital and the largest city, was located at the mouth of the Dirwen River.
Structure
The kingdom was ruled by the king from Rarmon Dynasty with absolute power, considering whatever the kingdom should be. The king also the head of Valonia Senate, the legislative institute where he worked alongside with the Advisers, who could be chosen by election.
Every weekend or any possible crisis, they would meet at House of Wisdom to consult about the kingdom's issue to establish laws. When the solution was clear, the king would decided if it should be enacted. If passed, it would be announced to the public within a few days before written into the code of law.
History
Valonia was established about 400 BVE. They immigrated from Kritus Empire, the superpower at the time, to establish their own country. The main reason to do that was unknown, it's covered by their first king Val, who was believed to be a leader of the group.
Early Kingdom
At first, there were at least 1000 people. The people started everything from scratch: gathered any resources, built every house, and managed the society. They created their center community, which later became the science institute known as R.R.A.
Once the settlement was stable, Val and his friends, who were experts of various skills, decided to take it seriously. They established Valonia Senate to work on initializing the government. A year later, the kingdom's first code of law has been ratified. Val became the first king, and the rest of them chose to be the advisers.
Their earliest mission was to boost the city population. Val welcomed all people to the new city regardless of their past. The result was a large number of ex-slave immigrating to Valone. The population grew quickly, and the city expanded onto the mouth of the river.
However, Some of them didn't like to do the job they suffered, led amount of unemployments and crimes to increase. Senate came up with an idea to convert them to be soldiers, trained by also unemployed veterans. The plan was successful and the amount was large enough to form their own specific organization.
By the time kingdom was totally in shape, the same year King Val passed away, and his son inherited the throne and continued his work and so on, starting the Rarmon dynasty.
City-state
Decades passed and the government was stabilized, but its economy was still weak compared to nearby nations. They need lots of money to upgraded capital's infrastructure and defense, and thus Kritus came to the offer.
Valonia got a large amount of loan enough to build another city, with a duration of 30 years or they will decleared war. With a chance of being declared war, the fear of being occupy was formed, but thanks to the talented King Sarton I, Valonia finally repaid the loan so the kingdom was now safe.
The Golden Age
With the rich of resources and people they have, Valonia stepped up to the stage of self-expansion. Using both diplomatic and militaristic ways, the kingdom started to expand along the west coast up to the north, until they reached at another mountain. They officially stopped exploring in 210 BVE after they reached the north-west forestry region because of how harshness and density it had.
At the end of expansion, the kingdom controlled all the rivers in the eastern region. Because of this, anyone who attempted to travel to overseas through rivers has to meet Valonia first. So, the law to collect passage tariff was passed, many trade agreements were signed.
Since then, the economy was skyrocketed, and no war to be involved with.
The Age of the Old Lord
While the one grew, another one shrunk. For a long time, Empire of Kritus aka "The Old Lord", wanted the kingdom since they have the same culture, but did nothing as they were bigger. Now the role had changed, they asked for a debt of gratitude and Valonia gave a positive response. But somehow then, the promise broke out, so they declared war in 32 BVE. It ended up with Valonia's defeat due to outdated military equipment as a result of 200 years peace. The dynasty was abdicated and the Senate was replaced by their government. With the law of legitimate slavery and brutal taxation, the wealthy Kingdom of Valonia, was severely sacked.
War of Independence
Valonian took the kingdom back in a form of revolution. The uprising led by Valus Rarmon seized Valone with their new military inventions, crystal firearm, and eventually free the city in 15 BVE. Then, he went on the war, from reclaiming all original border to annexed the once-greatest empire. The campaign lasted for 15 years and impacted the political climate any nation had never done before.
As a result, the rank of superpower belonged to the Valonian, and their new era began.
Military
Valonian's legionary were serving for both military combatants and law enforcers. Any man who's older than 18 could join the Royal Military Institute. They would be trained for the minimum of 6 months to be capable of recruit, or an acceptable 3 years to become the legion.
Technological Level
They acquired most of technology from Kritus, but being more developed, especially the special measurement tool which provides precision and accuracy to product, increasing its effective.
Religion
Citizens had a freedom of believing unless their activities were against the law.
Foreign Relations
Valonia used to fight against the Empire of Kritus as the result of culture similarity, led to the series of threats between 240 BVE to 30 BVE to find out who would be the one to rule them all.
Trade & Transport
Prior to 30 BVE, horse was everywhere, so do the people using them. They usually attached carts for carrying people, goods, materials and troops. All of them are using the same road system.
Ships also the good way for transportation, very useful for trading. Some riverside city such as Auqapus and Valone converted river into water toll, increasing wealth for the kingdom.
Education
Some wealthy family usually sent their childs to school. They would basically learn reading, writing, and basic math and science. When they're teenagers, they had to choose and study more complicated subjects like military tactics, engineering, horse riding and citizen policy. The biggest school/academy was R.R.A.
Remain the Wisdom
400 BVE - 30 BVE
A lot of grains, vegetables, fishes and salts. They also sold precisely quarried stones for constructions and artisans.
