Svalt River
Running from the highlands in the northern portion of the Nerrid Peninsula into the Great North Sea, the Svalt River is short, wide, and shallow. Its shallow draft means it freezes early in Autumn and thaws late in spring, meaning one is more likely than not to find ice covering its flow. As a result, there is little wildlife that makes the river its home. The exception, of course, are the strange white and blue serpents that patrol its shores no matter the season. Seeking the small mammals and birds found in the Schemka and Rahnhopf forests, these highly "ice snakes" as the Nerrid call them, have been known to grow to length of feet and are often used as threats by Nerrid parents seeking to frighten their children into good behavior.
