Nerrid National Library

Beneath the surface streets of Nerridon, and below the upper tunnels where Nerrid live in their burrows, and even further below the network of carefully carved rooms and corridors that make up the financial, industrial, and intellectual heart of the Nerrid Alliance, lies a warren of tunnels that spiderweb into hundreds of caverns great and small on at dozens of different levels. It is in this dark maze - lit only by arcane globes set at haphazard intervals - is the Nerrid National Library.

Reputedly the Library has over a hundred thousand volumes - many of them in multiple copies and alternate languages - squirrelled away in its catacombs. Works by Nerrid scientists, Human magi, rescued from the Mage Wars, philosophical works from all religions, countless histories, novels, and every other imaginable topic known on Tarien line its countless shelves, drawers, and closets. While this volume of work is impressive, it pales in comparison to the countless reports - tightly secured and highly organized secret chambers - from the now defunct Nerrid Secret Service.

While almost any written work can be found in the Library, even the most brilliant Nerrid find it is impossible to locate anything without three things. First, one must have a its catalogue number, according to the system invented by Franz Ronasonsonsonsonsonsonsonson. Second, one must have the attention of a librarian that understands the system; fortunately library science is a popular and lucrative career for aspiring Nerrid. Finally, one must have the luck that the work is one that has already been catalogued, and not on the backlog of thousands of manuscripts awaiting assignment of a number.
